While it was happening I prayed for those involved, the victims and the forces fighting the terrorists. Now that it's over I pray for the families of the victims and I pray for those injured. Now it's going to be finger pointing and a lot of posturing. What exactly am I talking about? The attack on the Taj Mahal hotel in India. Here are a few links for a rundown of the events.

Here's A Worthwhile Cause!

Caitlyn Arnold an eleven year old girl from Eastland has started a fund raising drive for the leukemia research department at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston Texas. She is asking for every Texan to send her one penny. When was the last time anyone asked you for ONLY ONE penny?

There are around 20,851,820 people in Texas. If half of the people in Texas sent me one penny, we could give MD Anderson $104,259.10.

I have spoken with M.D. Anderson. They are aware of my fundraiser. I have started collecting from my family and friends. I have written down all their names in a spiral notebook to send with the final amount so they can see all the people that are willing to help their cause. This is what I am asking from the wonderful people of Texas. Citigroup and AIG still plan to go ahead with sponsorships of sports teams despite asking for bailout funds.

As part of its federal life preserver, Citigroup will stop dividend payments for the next three years and curb certain executive compensation.

Ok Good start so far, doing something to stop the bleeding, good, good.

But the banking giant and other recipients of taxpayer largess — AIG, the insurance behemoth, for instance — will continue to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to put their corporate logos on sports stadiums and events, ABC News says.

Now see, here's where you lose my support, if you "need" money to keep yourself afloat you don't go spending money "willy nilly". Ok Congress...how does the Citigroup and AIG bailout smell now? Kinda fishy if you ask me.

It's been reported here, that Alan Colmes is leaving the Hannity and Colmes show on the Fox News Channel after 12 years.
I can honestly say I will not miss seeing him on the show, I know that he contributed to the shows success but I just did not care for him.
Now can we petition Kirsten Powers to be the new co-host? She's a liberal, but at least she one of the few intelligent ones.

GM giving up luxury jets, almost.

It’s hard for me to feel sorry for corporations begging Congress for money when you have CEOs jetting to Washington on private jets. Well after the grilling they received on the hill GM announced it was dropping the lease on some of its jets.

Two days later, on Friday, General Motors Corp. announced that it is terminating the leases on two of its five private jets in an effort "to cut costs."

Well, they have to keep some of the jets for emergencies don’t you know. I love the people claiming that we must save the auto industry because of all the people that will lose their pensions and health benefits. It's hard to feel sorry for them when you don't get either at your job. Hey I got an idea, how about the unions compromise on some ways to cut costs and make some cars that people will actually buy.

My Thoughts On The Automakers Bailout Request.

My feeling is that the US government should NOT bailout the Big 3 automakers; if they do it will only postpone the inevitable. The UAW union is not going to give any concessions, so if the automakers go bankrupt it will partly be their fault. The unions of this country I feel have lived past their usefulness. They gave us the 8 hour work day, they gave us decent wages for a day’s work, they gave us breaks during the day, they gave us power in the decisions the employer makes; however, they are going to go overboard by sticking to trying to keep pensions, higher wages, and the like. The unions are adding costs to the autos that foreign car makers don’t have to. Higher priced cars tend to turn off some people. The unions better rethink their posture, 80% of something is better than 100% of nothing.

Obama as role model for black youth? Not so fast

I read this article by Matthew Bigg from Reuters, and it started the wheels turning a little. I started to think about what people are expecting in an Obama Presidency. The article seems to support the theory that "If Barack Obama made it, so can you."
Okay, so this is what I think. If many of the lives of inner city youth don't change much or even get worse under a President Obama, they may become more bitter, and angry and may be more inclined to blame others for their misfortune. Well you can't just sit around and wait for something to happen to you. If you do then that something might not be so good. Then if some lives are indeed changed under an Obama Presidency, he will be looked upon as a great inspiration, and for good reason. He can be a great inspiration, but the rest of it has to be up to the individual. These success stories will place Obama on a pedestal so high even my become higher that Martin Luther King.
Then there will be those that succeed in spite of an Obama Presidency. These people will look to themselves and others and finally obtain the measure of success they desired. These will be those self made people that will succeed no matter who is in office. They will understand what the true meaning of the American Spirit means. That ANYONE with the drive and ambition and spirit to succeed often do no matter their circumstances. It's my hope that more of these successful people arise. These are the people that make up the bulk of Americas success stories.

A story from the Dallas Morning News is just outrageous. The Dallas Independent School District was giving immigrants fake and sometimes someone's social security number. Here's an excerpt from the story...

Some of the numbers were real Social Security numbers already assigned to people elsewhere. And in some cases, the state's educator certification office unknowingly used the bogus numbers to run criminal background checks on the new hires, most of whom were brought in to teach bilingual classes.

The practice was described in an internal report issued in September by the district's investigative office, which looked into the matter after receiving a tip. The report said the Texas Education Agency learned of the fake numbers in 2004 and told DISD then that the practice "was illegal."

Did you get that? They had to be TOLD that the practice was illegal! These are employees of a SCHOOL district. At the very least someone in that organization is complicit in identity theft. The Dallas ISD, your Texas Idjits of the Day.

It's not wabbit season, it's RINO season!

Over at Human events Uncle Ted Nugent has just declared open season on RINOs(Republican In Name Only). I"m totally on board with this, I'm so tired of my representatives saying we have to reach across the aisle to get things done in our congress, I can't recall a time when liberals ever reached over to our side of the aisle. My favorite part...

RINOs are Fedzilla punks who feign support for conservative principles only when it serves their political interest. RINOs are also known for their moderate positions such as supporting tax increases, federal “bailouts”, “comprehensive immigration reform”, advocating more counterproductive gun control that guarantee more innocent victims, opposing the death penalty, and growing and sustaining Fedzilla and all its toxic mongrels by going along with the liberals. RINOs have forgotten President Ronald Maximus Regan's admonition that government is the problem, not the solution.

They could have done the bailout better.

I am incensed that the Government decided to bailout Wall Street and the Banking industry, and now it looks like we'll be paying for the big 3 automakers too. I voiced my opinion to my representatives, fat lot of good that did. They came back and said they had to do something. Well something is what they did and it looks like a typical Washington screw up only on a scale not seen before. Why oh why couldn't they have given the 700 billion out to the taxpayers, then the taxpayers with their OWN money would have flooded the economy with cash, that worked pretty well the last time they sent out stimulus checks. I think it was lobbyists that poked and prodded the government and shoved this bailout down our throats. Well for MY representatives in Congress, good luck getting my vote or donations now!

Seriously it's time to update this! I'm not a great writer, phhht, I'm not even a good writer. I just like to post my thoughts and opinions. I'm not an expert on anything but like Glenn Beck I'm a thinker. I have just been ignoring putting down anything.

Turning back the clock.

Most of my adult life I've been listening to mostly Rock music, some Jazz, a little blues, and sometimes a little new country, but recently I've rediscovered The great Statler Brothers. Listening to their music brings me back to the days of sitting in my grandmothers kitchen watching her cook, playing in the creek behind our house, and just remembering the days when things were simpler.
Sure as children we have less to worry about but I also think that back then even the adults had less to worry about than we do now. Back then my parents didn't have to worry about where I was after school. Heck as long as I was home before dark and supper was on the table I never heard my mother say, "Stay where I can keep an eye on you." Of course we were better kids back then too, I mean if we weren't...hooo boy, we got it.
Sometimes I think life would be so much nicer if I could just do away with the computers, the TV, the cell phone and answering machine, you know, all the major comforts of today's society. Course then, the worlds problems would still be there, I just wouldn't hear about them.
I sure miss those days, Thank you Statler Brothers for helping me get back there, if only for a few hours.

Bo Derek is a Republican?

Ok I'm surfing the TV Channels last night and I come across Bo Derek on my screen, Now I have not seen any of her movies, nor have I seen any of her pictorials in the countless magazines she's been in.
I do know about her because when I was growing up she was all anyone could talk about and I got to see her on the talk shows. So, I'm wondering, what's she talking about. She looks fantastic by the way. She's appearing on the Donny Deutsch show on CNBC.
Now normally I don't watch that liberal channel, but the first thing I heard Donny Deutsch say was, "As a republican...", ok I'm intrigued. I didn't know Bo Derek was a Republican this could be interesting. He asks her something to the effect that as a woman how can she support the republicans on Roe VS Wade? He says something like "Just on this issue alone, how can you be republican?
What???
Ok, so as a woman you can't make up your own mind about abortion or have opinions on other issues? How idiotic of Mr. Deutsch. Then he asks her about Hillary Clinton running for president, and he seems surprised that, "As a woman", she doesn't really like Hillary.
Ok so women take note. Donny Deutsch has this idea that women are supposed to think a certain way, and if you don't, your shunning your gender, as well as your "political party"(as women are supposedly "statistacally Democrat").
This is just another example of how Democrats want people in their party to think alike, they all want democrats to be clones of Supreme Court JUstice Ginsburg and if your not they want you to go to hell. Democrats want everyone to depend on them for everything so they can stay in POWER. They have totally lost it. I can't stand this, "Click".
Is it any wonder I had nightmares last night? I mean the last thing I saw was Donny Deutsch for crying out loud.

Majority says Wal-Mart bad for America: poll

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Some 56 percent of U.S. consumers think Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is bad for America, according to a Zogby International poll released on Thursday by one of the retailer's most vocal critics.

You have to be kidding me. If Wal Mart goes, so goes a ton of paying jobs. If wal mart is so bad for America why does it that..."Wal-Mart, [is] the largest U.S. private-sector employer."

It seems like the ones that blame Wal Mart for what's bad don't look at what Wal Mart does that's good. They are helping keep the economy going(duh). This is really just some friggin wacko's making mountains out of molehills. Geez people, get a grip.
